School Supplies

Grade 7 Student Supplies List

Welcome to AE Cross School!

The transition to junior high can be extremely stressful for students and their parents.

While ease of mind can truly only happen when the first few days are over, being prepared supply-wise is helpful to alleviate any unnecessary nerves!

Here are some tips to get you started:

1.) YOU DON’T NEED EVERYTHING RIGHT AWAY.

It is totally fine to WAIT for the first few days of school to have the teacher tell your child what they need. It feels nice to go to the store beforehand and arrive on the first day with a full backpack, but often unnecessary stuff is purchased!

2) DO NOT BUY A LOCK!

Your child WILL have two lockers (main locker and PE locker) but the school provides the locks and records the combination. Even if your child brings their own, they will not be able to use it.

It is INCREDIBLY helpful to practice how to open a 3-digit combination lock at home before school starts.

3.) THE MAIN SUPPLIES:

Binders – two 1.5 “ or 2” binders – one for English Language Arts/Social Studies and one for Math/Science - are recommended. The expensive, fancy, zip up, lots-of-file-folder-holders, binders are not ideal.

First, they are often hard to fit inside a locker! In addition, if your child struggles with organization already and/or has never had to organize materials before because it was all just kept in a desk (the majority of grade 7s), it becomes a mass of papers just jammed in the slots with no order or sequence.

Dividers – dividers for one binder that clearly states: ELA (English Language Arts), Social (Social Studies) and LINED PAPER, and Science, Math, and LINED PAPER for the other binder.

Lined paper

Pencils - A million pencils. A trillion even. All. The. pencils.

Pencil Sharpener

Scissors

Glue Stick

Sharpie black fine-liner

Pencil crayons and markers

Highlighters

Ruler

Calculator

Geometry kit

Please ensure all supplies are labeled with your child's name. Not all supplies need to come on the first day.

A.E. Cross School Clubs

We encourage all students to become involved in the school community at A.E. Cross. A good way to do so is to join a club or activity around the school. Teachers will begin providing these opportunities for students during the month of September. Advertising for these clubs will occur through announcements at the school.
