One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority defined within the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

🎰 Casino Volunteers Needed!
A.E. Cross Parents Association's casino volunteer days are coming up on March 12 & 13, 2027, at Pure Casino, and we need our school community to help make this important fundraiser a success!
A casino is our school’s biggest fundraising opportunity, but it takes a team of parent volunteers to make it happen. Whether you’ve volunteered at a casino before or this would be your first time, we’d love to have you join us!
We’re looking for parents to fill a variety of volunteer positions throughout the two-day event. It’s a great opportunity to meet other AE Cross families, spend some time supporting the school, and help raise funds that will directly benefit our students.

🎓 Grade 9 Farewell — Parent Volunteer Needed! 2026-27
Our Parent Council is looking for a parent volunteer to coordinate this year’s Grade 9 Farewell!
This is a wonderful opportunity to help create a special send-off for our Grade 9 students as they wrap up their time at our school. The coordinator will help organize the event and work with other parent volunteers to make the celebration a memorable one.

Meetings are held at 7:00 PM on Thursdays. Watch your email for meeting invitations which will include agendas and meeting location (in person or virtual) the week prior to the meeting.Â
