Good afternoon families! We hope that you are enjoying this rainy, wet and cold first weekend of summer! ¡Buenas tardes, familias! Esperamos que estén disfrutando de este primer fin de semana de verano, lluvioso, húmedo y frío.

We have made it to the last week of school and there are some events and reminders that I would like to let you know about.

This will be the last edition of the Colts’ Community Chronicle for 2024-2025. We will provide families with Back to School information in late August and the first weekly Colts’ Community Chronicle will be sent on Monday, September 1. Just a reminder that the first day of school for students will be Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Library Books

All library books are now due to the school. Please make sure that your children are checking their backpacks, lockers, and homes for any books that are from our library. If they are not returned, the replacement cost will be charged to your child’s MyCBEaccount.

Lockers

Students are in the process of cleaning out their lockers. We would encourage students to bring extra bags (garbage bags, backpacks) so that they are able to take all of their items out of their lockers. Locks will be removed from lockers on Wednesday, June 25.

Provincial Achievement Tests

Preliminary results for the Provincial Achievement Tests will be provided to families this week. These preliminary results are for the machine-scored (multiple-choice) components of the tests. Final official results will be provided by your child’s high school in the fall.

Report Cards

Report Cards for your child will be visible through MyCBE on Wednesday, June 25. If there is something that you would like to discuss with teachers, please reach out to the school. Teachers will be available until 12:00 pm on Friday, June 27 for Report Card appeals.

Yearbooks

For those families who ordered 2024-2025 Yearbooks, they will be delivered to the school in September. For grade 9 students, we will pass your yearbooks on to your high school when they are delivered.

This week at A.E. Cross, we have created several opportunities for students.  Each day, students will have one period in the afternoon for Physical Education. Weather permitting, students will be outside for those blocks of time so please make sure that they have appropriate footwear:

  • Monday, June 23
    • Homeroom Activities (AM)
    • Grade 8 Bowling Trip (AM & PM Groups – students have already signed up)
    • Homeroom  Activities and Physical Education (PM)
  • Tuesday, June 24
    • A.E. Cross School Sports Day
      • This day will include different events for students to compete in and much of the day will take place outside. It will be important that students are prepared to be outside which includes bringing: a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle. Access to inside the school will be limited to the Phys Ed hallway that day for washroom use and to refill water bottles. Additionally, there will be food trucks stationed along 33rd Avenue for much of the day so we would encourage students to bring some money to purchase items from the vendors present at A.E. Cross.
  • Wednesday, June 25
    • Junior Achievement Financial Literacy Program (AM)
    • Homeroom Activities and Physical Education (PM)
  • Thursday, June 26
    • Homeroom Activities and Physical Education (AM)
    • Final Dismissal of the School Year at 1:00 pm

Thank you for all of your support throughout the school year. We hope that you have a wonderful, safe and relaxing summer break!

Sincerely,
