Hello A.E. Cross families!

We hope that you are having a wonderful weekend! Below you will find the latest edition of the Colts' Community Chronicle. ¡Hola familias de A.E. Cross! ¡Esperamos que estés pasando un maravilloso fin de semana! A continuación encontrará la última edición de la Crónica de la comunidad de los Colts.

Please note that there are no classes for students on Thursday, February 13 and Friday, February 14 as staff will be attending the Calgary City Teachers Convention. Also, Monday, February 17 is Family Day and there are no classes on that day. Next week's Colts' Community Chronicle will be sent on Monday, February 17 at 12:00 pm.

On Tuesday of this week, our photography partners from Lifetouch will be at A.E. Cross School to take farewell photos of our Grade 9 students. Students will be called down to the fitness by homeroom to have these pictures done. Some things to note for these photos:

Students are encouraged to wear:

  • White dress shirt with a collar, or a white blouse
  • A tie is nice, but optional
  • Gown and props (scroll, roses) will be provided by Lifetouch for the photo.
  • Each student gets 2-3 poses.

There are no retakes! If your child is absent, you will need to make alternative arrangements with Lifetouch directly.

These photos will be used in the AEC Yearbook and displayed in the composite on the wall.

We are hosting Senior Girls (Tuesday) and Senior Boys (Wednesday) volleyball games this week in our gymnasium. Please be aware that students that are not accompanied by their own parent/guardian after the conclusion of the first match of the evening will be asked to leave the school.

As we begin planning for the 2025-2026 school year, could you please let us know if your child is in Grade 7 or Grade 8 and they are not going to be attending A.E. Cross in September 2025? Please send an email to the school letting us know your child's education plans if they do not include A.E. Cross.

We hope that you have a fantastic week and an enjoyable and relaxing long weekend next week! ¡Esperamos que tengas una semana fantástica y un fin de semana largo agradable y relajante la próxima semana!

Physical Education

The expectations for our PE classes are that students will change their tops and bottoms as well as footwear if it is unsafe (sandal, crocs, high heels, boots, etc.). Please send appropriate active wear to school with your students. Students have access to their own gym locker where they can leave their gym clothes for the week before taking them home over the weekend. This expectation is to teach students how to be healthy and hygienic.

Colts’ Wrestling

Thank you all wrestlers for representing AEC with pride. We hope everyone had an enjoyable season. Guardians, please pay the wrestling fee using your MyCBE account.

Colts’ Volleyball

AEC volleyball teams had a fantastic week of games. There are no season games scheduled for next week, just regular practices. The Sr. Boys and Sr. Girls will play an exhibition against Vincent Massey after school on Friday. The Sr. Boys will be at AEC and the girls will play at Vincent Massey.

Spectators

Please remember that student spectators are only allowed to spectate the first game of the night at AEC. If they wish to stay for the other games they must be supervised by their own guardians. Students are not allowed to spectate away games unless supervised by their own guardians. Parents, we ask that you support us with the rule by accompanying your child to the games or telling the child that they can not attend that particular game. The teacher and admin supervisors at AEC truly appreciate your support.

If you have any further questions please contact Jace Richards at jarichards@cbe.ab.ca
