Good afternoon families! I hope that you have taken some time this weekend to get outside and enjoy the last few days of summer! ¡Buenas tardes, familias! Espero que hayan aprovechado este fin de semana para salir y disfrutar de los últimos días del verano.

Below is the latest edition of the Colts’ Community Chronicle.

Colts Community Chronicle Sept 15-19, 2025

We are excited to welcome all families to our school on Thursday, September 18 for our Meet the Teacher Evening. The format of the evening is as follows:

  • 5:20 pm – Doors open
  • 5:30 pm to 5:50 pm – Administration Presentation in Main Gym
  • 5:50 pm to 7:00 pm – Meet Classroom Teachers Throughout the School

Please note that this evening is designed as an opportunity for you to place a name to the faces that your children are mentioning to you. If you would like to discuss your child’s learning more deeply, we encourage you to contact your child’s teacher through email.

This week at A.E. Cross, we will be having Welcome Week Spirit Days. We invite students to participate by wearing the following clothing on the respective days:

  • Monday, September 15 – Hawaiian Shirt Day
  • Tuesday, September 16 – Jersey Day
  • Wednesday, September 17 – Socks and Sandals Day
    • Please make sure that students have appropriate footwear for gym and training
  • Thursday, September 18 – Colts Wear Day
  • Friday, September 19 – Celebrate Terry Fox by wearing Red and White

Each day a student dresses in Spirit Day attire, they can come to the main office and put their name in for an entry to win a prize!

A couple of items that are upcoming:

  • City of Calgary LEAD Program
    • This is an afterschool program run by staff at the City of Calgary that works to develop student leadership, confidence and social skills. Previous students have learned a bunch in this program, all the while having fun with their peers. If you think that your child would benefit from a program such as this, please let us know at the school. This program will run on Mondays and Wednesdays at the school from 3:50 pm to 5:50 pm.
  • Healthy Hunger
    • The first Healthy Hunger lunch (from A & W) will be on Wednesday, September 24. The deadline to order for the first date is Wednesday, September 17. You can create a Healthy Hunger account at the website. We will be having Healthy Hunger lunches delivered to the school each month. Watch for more details in future editions of the Colts’ Community Chronicle.
  • School Photo Day
    • This is happening on Wednesday, September 17. Should your child be absent on that day, our photography partners from LifeTouch will be back at A.E. Cross later in the fall.
