Good afternoon A.E. Cross families! ¡Buenas tardes familias de A.E. Cross!

Thank you to all families that met with our teachers on Thursday and Friday last week to discuss student learning. It was wonderful seeing some many people in our building on Thursday night! We hope that your child was able to take away some positive reinforcement and some strategies for improvement for the rest of the school year.

If you were unable to meet with your child’s teacher during the conference times last week, please reach out to the teacher to set up a meeting in the future. Contact information for all staff members is located on our website.

A special thank you goes out to our School Council who provided food and beverages for our staff on Thursday evening prior to conferences beginning. We greatly appreciate the support shown by this group and the staff was thoroughly nourished for conferences. Thank you so much!

Please take note that fees for athletics and complementary courses have been added to students’ MyCBE accounts. It is important that these fees are paid so that students are able to have rich and engaging learning experiences at A.E. Cross School.

Below you will find the latest edition of the Colts’ Community Chronicle.

Have a fantastic and spooky week! ¡Que tengas una semana fantástica y espeluznante!

Sincerely,

Randy Lewis

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parents/Guardians will be able to book conferences beginning Friday October 18, at 4:00PM. The conference bookings will register you to meet with 1 teacher at a time. This means that you will have to make multiple bookings if you desire to meet with more than 1 of your child's teachers, or to talk about different courses. We value the role that your child plays in their learning, and strongly encourage all students to attend conferences with their parent/guardian.

Thursday October 24, 5:00-8:00PM, all conferences will be in-person at A. E. Cross School

Friday October 25, 9:00AM-2:00PM, all conferences will be online via Microsoft Teams and a meeting link will be emailed directly to you

Each conference meeting will be 10 minutes in length.

The conference booking tool (MyCBE) will be closed on Wednesday October 23 at 9:00PM. It is important to ensure that you book your conferences prior to then.

NEW! We are able to provide interpretation services for 200+ languages. If you require an interpreter for your conferences, let each teacher that you are meeting with know ahead of time.

Please refer to this website, MyCBE - School Conferences, for instructions on how to book a conference through your MyCBE account. Should you have any difficulties or questions, please phone the main office and school staff can assist you.

School Council will be provided some food for teachers on the evening of October 24. If you would like to support the potluck meal provided to teachers, please use the following link to sign up:

Halloween Expectations

Halloween is upcoming on Thursday, October 31. Plans are being made to celebrate the event with students including a student-teacher basketball game and an afternoon pep rally/activity afternoon that we know students will enjoy.

As we approach Halloween, we want to remind everyone to celebrate this fun occasion with creativity and respect. While we encourage everyone to dress up, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • **No Masks**: For safety and identification purposes, masks are not permitted. Feel free to get creative with face paint instead!
  • **No Weapons**: Props resembling weapons are not allowed, as we want to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all.
  • **Cultural Sensitivity**: We ask that costumes avoid cultural appropriation. Please be mindful and respectful of different cultures, traditions, and identities.

Let’s celebrate Halloween with imagination and inclusivity! We can’t wait to see the fantastic costumes everyone comes up with.

Thank you for your cooperation!
