Happy November families! ¡Feliz noviembre familias! We hope that you enjoyed that extra hour this weekend as our clocks fell back. Please note that Fall Break for CBE students begins on Friday, November 8. Classes will resume for all students on Thursday, November 14. We hope that everybody has an opportunity to relax, reconnect and enjoy a well-deserved break from school. As a result of fall break occurring, next week’s Colts’ Community Chronicle will not be delivered until Wednesday, November 13.
As we swing into the month of November, there are events that will be occurring for A.E. Cross students coming up.
- On Thursday, November 7, our students will be invited to recognize Remembrance Day in a ceremony in our main gym beginning at 10:30 AM
- The basketball season is winding down for our student athletes and playoffs will be occurring beginning the week of November 18
- High School tours are beginning for Grade 9 students in the latter half of the month – for dates, please refer to the Colts’ Community Chronicle below
Grade 7 students should have received a report of their Provincial Achievement scores from last June when they completed these assessments at the end of Grade 6. Please see the letter below for more information.
We are happy to introduce some further academic supports for our students so that they can be more successful in their learning:
- Math Help Rooms on Monday and Tuesday after school
- Homework Hotel Wednesdays after school

Ski School
Field trip forms have been sent home with students attending the Ski School field trip. Fees have been added to the MyCBE account for those students as well. Please return the forms and pay the fees by November 14 to confirm your students' spot on the trip. If you did not receive a form, please send your student to Mr. Richards on Monday.
Remembrance Day
On Thursday, November 7 at approximately 10:30 AM, A.E. Cross will hold a ceremony to honour those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country. We will be having our band, SLA and leadership students participate in the ceremony. A speaker from the Canadian Forces will be in attendance and students will remember our courageous soldiers with a moment of silence during the event. There will be limited seating for parents to attend this event.
Please reinforce with your children that Thursday’s ceremony is a solemn one and it is imperative that their behaviour reflects the tone of the event. Hats and hoods should be removed prior to entering the gym that day and there should be no applause or talking throughout the event. Poppies will be distributed to students on the morning of November 7 and there will be an opportunity for students to donate to the Poppy Fund all week if they so choose.
Student Fees
Student fees have been posted to your child’s MyCBE accounts. Please log in and pay those fees when you get a chance. The fees collected allow your children to experience high quality educational experiences (complementary courses, extra-curricular activities and field trips) while at A.E. Cross School.

- Demographic Verification - 2024-25 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
- Citizenship Information Update - 2024-25 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
- Annual Authorization - 2024-25 – Combines the following forms:
- School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
- Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
- Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties
SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, etc. If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer, to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).
To complete these forms:
1 | sign in to your MyCBE account
2 | click on the SchoolEngage icon
3 | select the form
4 | complete or review and update the form
5 | click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
6 | repeat steps 3-5 for each form
Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, September 16. These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding. Thank you for completing them.
If you have any other students with the Calgary Board of Education, you may proceed with completing their forms too.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.
We thank those families who have already completed forms for their children.
