Good afternoon everybody!  Buenas tardes a todos! We hope that you have had a wonderful weekend so far!

This week marks the midpoint of the 2024-2025 school year. We are so proud of all of our students and their achievements to this point in the school year. We can’t wait to see everything that they will contribute to the school community throughout the remainder of the winter and the springtime!

Please note that report cards will be visible through MyCBE/PowerSchool beginning Monday, January 27. If you have questions regarding your child’s progress, I encourage you to reach out directly to their teacher. Our staff is more than happy to discuss your child’s achievement and ways that they can improve with you.

Semester 2 begins on Tuesday, January 28. This means that students will have new complementary courses that they will be going to. Students will receive an updated timetable during their classes on Monday but I would encourage you to remind them on Tuesday morning of their new classes beginning! A reminder to all families that Friday, January 31 is a non-instructional day for students.

If you can believe it, we are already beginning to prepare for the 2025-2026 school year. Grade 9 students will begin to choose their high school courses in the next couple of weeks. Grade 7 and 8 students will be choosing their options for A.E. Cross around Spring Break. It is certainly an exciting time!

If you have a child in either grade 7 or grade 8 this year and they are planning to attend a different junior high school for the 2025-2026 school year, could you please send me a quick email at rglewis@cbe.ab.ca to let me know of your plans? We want to compile the most accurate student numbers for when we head into timetabling and staffing for 2025-2026. Thank you for your attention to this!

The latest edition of the Colts’ Community Chronicle is below. There is some new information about our Colts’ athletics teams, some further information about semester 2, a link to purchase a yearbook, Provincial Achievement test dates and more!

We hope that you have a wonderful week! ¡Esperamos que tengas una semana maravillosa!

Semester 2 Information

Semester 2 classes begin on Tuesday, January 28. Students will receive a semester 2 timetable in their classes on Monday. New options are beginning so it’s important that students know where they need to go on Tuesday morning. Please note that option classes are full and we will not be able to fulfill any option change requests for semester 2. The start of semester two on Tuesday is a great time to restock on school supplies for your child! Many students are coming to class with no lined paper or pencils. Also, glue sticks and pencil sharpeners are in hot demand. Please talk to your child and see what they need to feel ready to tackle this next half of the school year prepared and equipped to learn.
