Good afternoon everybody! Buenas tardes a todos! We hope that you are having a great weekend!

We were so happy to celebrate our wonderful grade 9 class at their farewell on Thursday, June 6. It was a fantastic event and we hope that all of the students had a good time. I especially want to highlight the commitment of our grade 9 farewell student committee under the leadership of Ms. Horne at school for their organization and execution of the evening. The event could not have happened without the support of the parent community of A.E. Cross School We appreciate the many parents who stepped up to volunteer in a variety of ways to make the farewell happen. We also want to acknowledge the generosity of parent council and the support of the grade 9 farewell.

The transition from celebration to completion of Provincial Achievement Tests is occurring this week as both English Language Arts (Part B) and Mathematics (Part A) tests will be written on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. I want to thank our grade 9 team who has been working throughout the year to best prepare our students. There are a couple of student expectations that I want to highlight:

  • Being on time for the start of the exam to get settled and prepared to write
  • No notes in any form, papers, informal dictionaries, electronic dictionaries or books relating to a PAT may be brought into the PAT writing room or used by a student unless expressly permitted to do so by PAT administration instructions
  • Students may not bring into the PAT writing room any cellphones, wearable technology, Bluetooth devices or other electronic devices
  • Students may not enter or leave the PAT writing room without the consent of the supervising teacher. Students who must leave the PAT writing room for an unscheduled break while the PAT administration is underway must be accompanied by an available supervisor or other teacher

Just a reminder that the A.E. School Council and Parents’ Association Annual General Meeting is occurring on Thursday, June 13 at 7:00 PM in the Learning Commons of the school. School council is also looking for volunteers for a couple of upcoming events:

  • June 25 – A.E. Cross School Sports Day
  • June 27 – Staff Appreciation Lunch

Below is the latest edition of the Colts’ Community Chronicle. Just a reminder that the last Chronicle for the 2023-2024 school year will come out on June 23, 2024 and that the first Chronicle for next school year will be on September 3, 2024. We will have Back to School information posted on our website in the coming weeks.
