Good afternoon A.E. Cross families and Happy Groundhog Day! ¡Buenas tardes familias de A.E. Cross y Feliz Día de la Marmota!
We hope that you have managed to stay warm this weekend! With the colder temperatures staying around into the week, it is important that students are dressed appropriately for the weather. Should temperatures this week be extremely cold, we will welcome students into the school before 9:00 AM and we will be having students stay inside at lunchtime as well. We will have activities for students to participate in throughout the lunch hour should they need to stay in the school.
Semester 2 began this past week and in talking with students, they were excited with their new complementary classes. Semester 2 fees have been charged to your child's MyCBE account and we encourage you to pay those fees as quickly as possible so that materials for those classes can be purchased for your child's learning. If you have questions or concerns regarding your child's achievement reported on their report card last week, we encourage you to reach out directly to your child's teacher.
On Friday, January 31, Grade 9 teachers began the process of course recommendations for high school. Students will be working on complementary course selections within their classes in the upcoming weeks. Additionally, we will be hosting our photography partners from LifeTouch on Tuesday, February 11 to take Grade 9 farewell photographs of our students. Spring photography for Grade 7 and Grade 8 students will occur later in the spring.
We have been very impressed with the early season results of our Colts' volleyball teams. They have shown great skill development and sportsmanship as they compete in a highly competitive division. We look forward to seeing their improvement throughout the month of February. Please remember that student spectators are only allowed to spectate the first game of the night at AEC. If they wish to stay for the other games they must be supervised by their own guardians. Students are not allowed to spectate away games unless supervised by their own guardians. Parents, we ask that you support us with the rule by accompanying your child to the games or telling the child that they can not attend that particular game. The teacher and administrative supervisors at AEC truly appreciate your support.

The expectations for our PE classes are that students will change their tops and bottoms as well as footwear if it is unsafe (sandal, crocs, high heels, boots, etc.). Please send appropriate active wear to school with your students. Students have access to their own gym locker where they can leave their gym clothes for the week before taking them home over the weekend. This expectation is to teach students how to be healthy and hygienic.

Thank you all wrestlers for representing AEC with pride. We hope everyone had an enjoyable season. Guardians, please pay the wrestling fee using your MyCBE account.
