Good afternoon Colt families! We hope that things are going great for you this weekend! ¡Buenas tardes, familias de Colt! ¡Esperamos que les vaya de maravilla este fin de semana!

Please note that Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21 are non-instructional days for students. Therefore next week's Colts' Community Chronicle will be sent on Monday, April 21 at 12:00. We hope that everybody has some exciting plans for the upcoming long weekend.

We are preparing for the 2025-2026. In order to best determine programming and staffing for next school year, it is important that we have the most accurate student numbers possible. Please let the main office know if your child will not be attending A.E. Cross in the fall. Thank you for your attention to this.

Before we get to the long weekend though, there are some events at A.E. Cross that we want to let you know about:

  • Tuesday, April 15 - Spring Photo Day - our photography partners from LifeTouch will be at the school to take spring photos of Grade 7 and Grade 8 students and any students new to the school. These photos will be used in our 2025-2026 yearbook. There will be no retakes however and images from the fall will be used in the yearbook instead.
  • Wednesday, April 16 - Grade 6 Open House -  we are opening our doors to Grade 6 families on April 16th from 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm. We look forward to meeting our incoming families for the 2025-2026 school year. If you know families with elementary-aged students, please let them know of the upcoming open house!
  • Thursday, April 17 - Grade 7 and Grade 8 Course Selection Forms Due to Homeroom teachers - it is important that course selection forms are completed. Should students not complete forms, students will be placed in courses that have availability.

Additionally, preparations are in full swing for our Grade 9 farewell celebration. This year's event will take place on Friday, June 6 beginning at 5:00 pm and going to 8:00 pm. A student planning group has been formed and many ideas have been brought forward to ensure that it is a memorable event for our Grade 9 students. We will have more information about this event in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, please take a look at our Grade 9 Farewell "Save the Date' notification below.

We hope that you have a wonderful week and please enjoy the upcoming long weekend!

2025-2026 Complementary Course Selection

All students in Grade 7 and Grade 8 have been provided with a Complementary Course Selection form. The form is required to be signed by parents/guardians, and is due back to Homeroom teachers by Thursday April 17, 2025. This is an opportunity for students, and their families, to determine their Top 6 complimentary course requests for next year. The courses that students request will be entered into MyCBE during class time from April 22 - May 2. Our 2025-2026 timetable will be built around student requests and teacher staffing. Not all course requests will be fulfilled. Course enrolment will be dependent on student numbers and course availability within our timetable. Please support your student with choosing courses that they are interested in pursuing. If the Complementary Course Selection form is not returned, students will be placed into complementary courses based on where space remains available.
