Good afternoon Colt families! We hope that you are enjoying the last weekend of April! ¡Buenas tardes, familias de Colt! Esperamos que estén disfrutando del último fin de semana de abril.

We are entering the final stretch of the school year but it is important that students continue to work hard in class and complete assignments to the best of their ability. Below you will find the latest edition of the Colts' Community Chronicle.

Students are currently entering their complementary course requests into MyCBE through their homerooms. If your child was absent on the day that their homeroom completed this task, please have them talk to their homeroom teacher or Ms. Wiseman so that we have accurate course selections for 2025-2026.

Our school is designated as a voting site for the upcoming election on Monday, April 28.  As a result, we anticipate increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic in and around the school premises on election day. We kindly request that all families exercise extra caution, allow for additional time for parking, and be mindful of the increased activity to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. In addition to the increased traffic around the school, there will be some access restrictions for students on Monday. Signage around the school will help students in their navigation around A.E. Cross that day.

Just a reminder to all families who have children going on the SEAS sailing trip in May that the final parent meeting for that trip will occur on Tuesday, April 29 beginning at 6:00 pm in the Learning Commons. This is a mandatory meeting and important information will be shared as well as final Acknowledgement of Risk forms will be given out.

As the weather begins to improve, we are seeing an increase in the use of water guns on school property. We kindly remind you that water guns are not permitted on school property at any time. While we understand they may be part of summer fun, bringing them to school can cause unnecessary distractions and safety concerns. Please help us maintain a safe and respectful learning environment by ensuring your child leaves all forms of toy weapons at home. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Water guns will be confiscated and possible further progressive discipline will occur if needed.

Thank you as always for your support of our school community and of your child’s learning. We look forward to finishing the 2024-2025 school year strong. Como siempre, gracias por su apoyo a nuestra comunidad escolar y al aprendizaje de su hijo/a. Esperamos terminar el año escolar 2024-2025 con éxito.

2025-2026 Complementary Course Selection

All students in Grade 7 and Gr 8 have been provided with a Complementary Course Selection form. The form was due back to Homeroom teachers by Thursday April 17, 2025. This is an opportunity for students, and their families, to determine their Top 6 complimentary course requests for next year. The courses that students request will be entered into PowerSchool during class time from April 22 - May 2. Our 2025/2026 timetable will be built around student requests and teacher staffing. Not all course requests will be fulfilled. Course enrolment will be dependent on student numbers and course availability within our timetable. Please support your student with choosing courses that they are interested in pursuing. If the Complementary Course Selection form is not returned, students will be placed into complementary courses based on where space remains available.
