Good afternoon everybody! We hope that you are having a great weekend! ¡Buenas tardes a todos! ¡Esperamos que estés pasando un gran fin de semana!
Below you will find the latest edition of the Colts’ Community Chronicle. As always, there is lots of important information that you can find regarding the activities occurring at A.E. Cross School.
Some things to note:
- Parent-Teacher Conference booking opened on Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm. I would encourage you to book conferences with your child’s teachers as soon as possible through MyCBE/PowerSchool.
- Thursday, October 24 – 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm – in-person at A.E. Cross School
- Friday, October 25 – 9:00 am to 2:00 pm – online via Microsoft Teams
- The weather forecast for tomorrow includes a chance for the first snowfall of the school year and much cooler temperatures than what we have seen so far this year. Please make sure that students are dressed appropriately as Physical Education classes may be going outside for their programming and, depending on the timing and amount of precipitation, students will be expected to go outside during the second half of lunch unless they are under direct supervision of a teacher within the school.
- Halloween is coming next week and we are looking forward to seeing the costumes that students wear during the day. Please note that costumes that include masks, weapons and any type of cultural insensitivity are not permitted.
We hope that your children have a wonderful week of learning at A.E. Cross School! ¡Esperamos que sus hijos tengan una maravillosa semana de aprendizaje en A.E. Cross School!
Sincerely,
Randy Lewis
Principal, A.E. Cross School

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parents/Guardians will be able to book conferences beginning Friday October 18, at 4:00PM. The conference bookings will register you to meet with 1 teacher at a time. This means that you will have to make multiple bookings if you desire to meet with more than 1 of your child's teachers, or to talk about different courses. We value the role that your child plays in their learning, and strongly encourage all students to attend conferences with their parent/guardian.
Thursday October 24, 5:00-8:00PM, all conferences will be in-person at A. E. Cross School
Friday October 25, 9:00AM-2:00PM, all conferences will be online via Microsoft Teams and a meeting link will be emailed directly to you
Each conference meeting will be 10 minutes in length.
The conference booking tool (MyCBE) will be closed on Wednesday October 23 at 9:00PM. It is important to ensure that you book your conferences prior to then.
NEW! We are able to provide interpretation services for 200+ languages. If you require an interpreter for your conferences, let each teacher that you are meeting with know ahead of time.
Please refer to this website, MyCBE - School Conferences, for instructions on how to book a conference through your MyCBE account. Should you have any difficulties or questions, please phone the main office and school staff can assist you.
School Council will be provided some food for teachers on the evening of October 24. If you would like to support the potluck meal provided to teachers, please use the following link to sign up:

Halloween Expectations
Halloween is upcoming on Thursday, October 31. Plans are being made to celebrate the event with students including a student-teacher basketball game and an afternoon pep rally/activity afternoon that we know students will enjoy.
As we approach Halloween, we want to remind everyone to celebrate this fun occasion with creativity and respect. While we encourage everyone to dress up, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
- **No Masks**: For safety and identification purposes, masks are not permitted. Feel free to get creative with face paint instead!
- **No Weapons**: Props resembling weapons are not allowed, as we want to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all.
- **Cultural Sensitivity**: We ask that costumes avoid cultural appropriation. Please be mindful and respectful of different cultures, traditions, and identities.
Let’s celebrate Halloween with imagination and inclusivity! We can’t wait to see the fantastic costumes everyone comes up with.
Thank you for your cooperation !

For online help refer, to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).
