Good afternoon everybody. I hope that all of our students are enjoying their long weekend! Buenas tardes a todos. ¡Espero que todos nuestros estudiantes estén disfrutando de su fin de semana largo!
Below is the latest edition of the Colts’ Community Chronicle.
Colts' Community Chronicle - September 29 to October 3
Today marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. I hope that some of you were able to attend the City of Calgary event at the Confluence this morning in recognition of this day.
Our Colts’ basketball season starts tomorrow with our Junior Boys team playing in the Main Gym after school. We hope that students are able to come out and support the team! Please note that there are restrictions on spectators for games in our gym as well as the other schools throughout the CBE:
- A.E. Cross students are able to stay to watch the first game of the evening (4:30 pm)
- If A.E. Cross students would like to watch other games during the evening, they will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian
- Students from other schools will only be allowed to watch games if they are accompanied by a parent/guardian
- Administration at all schools will turn away students who do not have a parent with them
- When students are watching games, they need to engage in positive cheering for their team. Negative comments towards the opposing team, coaches or officials will result in students being asked to leave the gym.
I would encourage you to continue to visit the following page for the CBE for the latest information on Labour Action involving the Alberta Teachers’ Association. For now, it continues to be business as usual in our schools.
We hope that your children have a wonderful week of learning at A.E. Cross!
Sincerely,
Randy Lewis
Principal, A.E. Cross School
