Athletic Tryout form

All students who wish to tryout for a team at A.E. Cross must submit the Athletic Tryout Form. This form can be submitted digitally to Mr. Richards, jarichards@cbe.ab.ca or by hard copy to your child's PE teacher.

By leaving the boxes checked off that have already been checked off, your child is able to tryout for teams they wish to when that sport begins. The checked boxes do not mean the student has to tryout for that team.

Colts’ Athletics

We are still awaiting word on the continuation of Middle School athletics at this time. No competitions will be scheduled until November 13, 2025 at the earliest. Teams are able to practice during the week of November 3 to November 7. We would ask that students watch the daily announcements in class each day and check the Athletics bulletin board in the hallway outside of the gym for updates.

If you have any further questions please contact Jace Richards at jarichards@cbe.ab.ca

Team Fees

Please check your MyCBE account for updated team fees. They should be added to your account. In order for the school to pay for referees and other team needs, we need the player fees paid.

We want all of our students to have the opportunity to play sports for AEC no matter the situation at home. If you are unable to pay the fees due to budgetary restrictions, please email jarichards@cbe.ab.ca.

Spectator Expectations for Athletic Events

CBE middle schools have set similar expectations for games that promote safety, respect, and a positive experience for all. They include:

  • All visiting student spectators/athletes must be under the direct supervision of their parent/guardian for the duration of the games.
  • There are no in and out privileges for spectators. If you leave the building, you do not re-enter.
  • Student spectators without parental supervision will be directed by the hosting school administration to leave the building.
  • Cell phones must remain in bags. No photos or recordings can be made by students. This is a privacy concern for the athletes from all teams.
  • Parents are asked to be mindful if they are taking photos or videos of their child. The privacy of other student athletes should be considered.
  • All spectators - students or adults - are expected to cheer and support players/coaches/referees/parents/guardians in a positive manner.
  • Disrespectful behaviours will be addressed by school administration promptly and may result in spectators being directed to leave the game and the school building.
  • Parents/guardians who bring younger children are responsible at all times for their direct supervision. Please ensure that they are not wandering the halls and playing on phys ed equipment in the gym/on stage.
