Good Sunday Afternoon families! ¡Buenas tardes de domingo familias! We hope that you are having a wonderful weekend!

Thank you to all families who made the time to come to A.E. Cross School on Thursday evening for our Meet the Teacher event. Our staff enjoyed making positive connections with parents during the night. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s learning.

On Friday, September 13, our school participated in the annual Terry Fox Run. During Physical Education, students walked and ran around the school field to honour Terry’s wonderful legacy. Also, I am very proud of our school community for raising over $1400 for cancer research during our donation drive for the Terry Fox Foundation. We greatly surpassed our initial goal of $600 for the entire school. Thank you to Mr. Richards for the organization of the event as well as thank you to all teachers that volunteered to have their head shaved or to get pied in the face during our assembly on Friday morning.

The busy month of September continues this week as we are having our first School Council/Parents’ Association meeting of the school year on Thursday, September 19 at 7:00 pm in the Learning Commons. All parents of A.E. Cross students are welcome to attend this event.

A.E. Cross School is excited to welcome the MLA for Calgary-Currie on Thursday, September 19. Ms. Janet Eremenko will be visiting our school in the morning to observe our classrooms and to talk with teachers and students about the start up of the school year.

For those families of Grade 8 and Grade 9 students, we are happy to announce that 2023-2024 yearbook distribution will be occurring on Wednesday, September 18 just before lunch. Students will receive their yearbooks in the class. Should students be absent on that day, they can pick up their yearbook from the main office starting on Thursday, September 19.

Thank you for all of the support that you show our school community. We hope that your child has a wonderful week of learning at A.E. Cross School.
